Book Choice:

It's important to know how to choose a book that's right for you.  Take a look at the poster below from the Pelican Library and think about what else we could add.

Here are some ideas Mrs. Boyd/Kennedy's class and Mrs. Leary's class have about how to choose a book:

1.  Choose a topic you're interested in.
2.  If you read a book that's too hard, choose an easier one next time.
3.  Choose books that are at your AR level. 
4.  If you are in kindergarten through second grade, you should probably read red or orange (AR) label books.
5.  Look at the pictures in the book to see if they get your attention and you like them.
6.  Don't just judge a book by it's title or cover; be sure to take a look inside.
